(Dog Name Tags) - Dogs, just like humans, can get lost very easily. But unlike humans, their capacity for communicating their identities is too limited. Thus, dog name tagsare very important (though it would not be a guarantee but your dog would be likely returned to you by a very kind soul who cannot stand the sight of a distressed dog).

So what information should these dog name tags have? Of course, the dog’s name would be in the first line. Be sure that it is spelt correctly (better yet your dog’s name should be quite easy to enunciate). Then next would be your home address, or your telephone number, or even your email address (any means of tracing you, the owner). Sometimes, your pooch might have some form of food or drug allergies; and these restrictions may be also best included in the dog name tags so that the finder or those in the animal shelter would know what to feed and not to feed your dog.

For example, in the United Kingdom, the Control of Dogs Order 1992, states that any dog in a public place should be properly equipped with a collar bearing the name and address (plus post code) of the owner written in the collar or engraved on a dog tag with an optional inclusion of a telephone number.

A lot of pet owners usually shower their pet dogs with customized clothing, dog treats, or even special beddings, but sometimes not the dog name tags. If caught without a tag you could be fined up to £5,000! Hence, it’s crucial to purchase name tags for your dog. And also, if your dog has been embedded with a microchip, it would be good to include the phrase in your tag “Please Scan Me” or “I am Microchipped” or “I Have a Microchip” so that those who would find your dog would have an easier time.
